Sprinklerly vs Pocket Irrigator for irrigation contractors
Facts checked 2026-10-26
Short answer: Pocket Irrigator is the better choice if the job you want done is the inspection in front of you: map the zones, photograph what is broken, and send the customer a priced estimate before you leave. It starts free and its paid plans begin at $39 per month. Sprinklerly is worth a look when the harder problem is the schedule behind those visits: how many service calls fit in a day, who is going where, and when each backflow test is due.
Where Pocket Irrigator is the better choice
- Price to start. Its pricing page lists a free plan (up to 10 customers and 10 inspections in total), Pro at $39 per month for a single technician, Team at $99 per month with 3 users included and $30 for each extra, and Company at $299 per month with 15 users included and $20 for each extra. Sprinklerly's planned general-availability prices are $79, $149 and $249 per month.
- The field inspection. Pocket Irrigator describes drawing zones, heads and valves over satellite imagery, tagging the controller, and inspecting zone by zone with photos. Sprinklerly keeps a controller, zone and component record per property, but it does not describe itself as a map-drawing tool for the equipment.
- Customer approval. Its site says the customer gets a link and signs the estimate on their phone. In Sprinklerly an estimate approval is recorded by office staff, with the amount, version and time stored; there is no sign-on-your-phone link for the customer.
- Built by and for irrigators, with an assistant for quick troubleshooting questions and a parts catalog with nozzle charts on the free plan.
- Try it today. Paid plans carry a 14-day trial with no credit card, and the free plan has no time limit.
Where Sprinklerly may fit better
- Scheduling a day of service calls. Sprinklerly's unit of work is a service area day on a map: a circle with a date, arrival windows and a capacity per window that cannot be booked past, even by two people at once. Pocket Irrigator's site says approved estimates appear in your schedule as jobs to book; it does not describe arrival windows or capacity limits.
- Crews and routes. Sprinklerly assigns several technicians to a job with one crew lead and lets a dispatcher order a day's stops with real drive times and warnings. Pocket Irrigator's pages do not mention dispatch or routing.
- Backflow and certification paperwork. Sprinklerly tracks backflow tester certifications with expiry and test results, and can produce test reports as PDFs. Pocket Irrigator's pages do not mention backflow testing. For the manual version first, see how to track backflow test due dates.
- Customer booking. Sprinklerly has a public no-login booking page; see how to let customers book sprinkler service online. Pocket Irrigator's pages do not describe one.

Sprinklerly is free during early access for contractors who sign up by December 31, 2026, with no credit card required. Planned prices at general availability are Starter $79, Pro $149 and Growing Crews $249 per month, locked in for early-access accounts, with 30 days notice before any charge. See pricing. The scope is not like-for-like: Pocket Irrigator is an inspection-to-estimate tool with optional scheduling and invoicing, Sprinklerly is scheduling, dispatch and records.
What Sprinklerly does not do
No native iOS or Android app (it is a web app that installs to a phone's home screen), no satellite drawing of heads and valves, no customer signature link for estimates, no QuickBooks sync (an import file only), no payroll or live crew GPS, and route planning is manual with real drive times and warnings, not automatic optimization.
Using both
A shop could reasonably use Pocket Irrigator for the inspection and estimate in the field and Sprinklerly for the day's schedule and the backflow records. Nothing connects the two, so expect to enter a customer in each.
